Five reasons to fall for a love seat

Five reasons to fall for a love seat

As the name suggests, love seats are the perfect way to bring moments of intimacy into your home. Great for cuddling up next to a fire or for reading bedtime stories, we love love seats so much we have three of them in our NiX upholstery collection.

“Somehow love seats always just make people smile, there’s something so playful and joyful about them,” says Nix.
“Also, in a time when space is at a premium, they allow you to squeeze a little bit more bottom space into your home.”

Read on to find out why we think it’s time you fell for a love seat.

Comfortable and cosy

Somewhere between an armchair and a sofa, a love seat encourages closeness and connection. It's the perfect size for two people, allowing you and your partner, family member, or friend to snuggle up comfortably while enjoying each other's company. The close proximity creates a cosy and warm ambience, making conversations and bonding moments more enjoyable. So whether you're cuddling up with a loved one or lounging by the fire with a good book, a love seat is a surefire way to bring comfort and togetherness into your home.

Space-saving

In today's world, where space is often a luxury, a love seat offers a practical and space-saving seating solution. Its compact size makes it an excellent choice for smaller homes such as apartments or studios while in larger homes a love seat can create a cosy nook next to a window or fireplace. A love seat’s small footprint means that it can often fit into those awkward corners or tight spaces that are too small for a sofa. Love seats allow you to create a cosy seating area without overwhelming a room and still leaving enough space for other furniture and decorative elements. Measuring 118 centimetres wide, Idler and Curtain Call are our smallest love seat options, providing all the comfort of a sofa but in a smaller footprint.

Stylish

Love seats come in a wide variety of designs, styles and upholstery options. The clean-lined shapes of our NiX love seats will complement your existing furniture while also adding those playful details that are so synonymous with Nicola Harding & Co. For instance, the simple and classic lines of the Curtain Call love seat are brought to life with the addition of an elegant skirt, the Dolittle is distinguished by its arched back and ball-shaped feet while the Edwardian-style Idler has a clean-lined silhouette that can be dressed up or down through choice of upholstery.

Playful

At Nicola Harding & Co, we often use love seats as a way of adding a bold accent to a room – what we like to call a “punctuation mark” within your scheme.

“Love seats provide the perfect opportunity to be a bit more playful or be bolder in terms of fabric choice than you might dare to be with a larger piece of upholstery,” explains Nix, “sometimes even combining two fabrics on one seat.”
We offer Dolittle and Idler in 45 choices of fabric, including 15 colours of Laidback Linen, 16 colours of Intelligent Velvet and all of our NiX Checks and Stripes.
Curtain Call is available in a choice of 28 fabrics including all of our Laidback Linen colours and Nix Checks and Stripes.

Versatile

A love seat can serve various purposes within your home. It can be a cosy reading nook in your bedroom, a quiet spot to enjoy a cup of coffee in your living room or a comfortable seating option in your home office.
We’ve used love seats a lot in our projects, everywhere from kitchens to children’s bedrooms,” says Nix.
“They are particularly great in children’s bedrooms as they are the perfect size for reading bedtime stories. You can also put them in a space next to a fire where there isn’t quite enough room for a sofa but you are able to shoehorn a love seat.”

Looking to add a touch of cosiness, colour or simply more bottom space to your home? Consider a love seat.
