When Scape commissioned us to create their new headquarters, we imagined a place that would manifest its brand. In the heart of central London, we envisaged a bold and vibrant workplace that would inspire and sustain a sense of excitement about returning to the office after two years of working from home. An HQ that set standards high to echo the ambitions of the team.
Reinterpreting how an office works, we designed a living space at its heart with a substantial glossy tiled kitchen island running the length of the space to become the focal point. A place for the team to gather, and host informal events. Each member of the team has a permanent spot in the generous, light-filled main working zone populated with large, solid wood tables designed by us and built by sustainability pioneers Goldfinger, an award-winning social enterprise that crafts bespoke furniture and is based nearby.
We included plenty of breakout spaces, big and small, within the open plan set up with circular sofas as well as diner-style booths for video calls and smaller face-to-face meetings. We designed meeting rooms of different sizes, each distinctly decorated in its own colours and character, so that no two spaces feel the same but all flow together with a common handwriting. Each director has a handsome study with its own mix of antique and bespoke pieces. There is also a directors’ creative suite, a lounge and a library to host board meetings and strategy sessions.
Scape HQ embodies the consistent values of the business and reflects the calibre of the living environment it provides. A workplace to feel proud to invite guests and welcome investors.
